The City of Oceanside is currently accepting applications for the position of Senior Civil Engineer. There are currently two vacancies in the Water Utilities Department.
Scheduled base salary increases for this position on first full pay period:
2% January 2023
3.5% July 2023
The Water Utilities Department is responsible for overseeing entitlements and development as it relates to water, sewer, and recycled water infrastructure as well managing a budget of approximately $100 million for fiscal year 2022/2023. The Water Utilities Department owns and operates two water treatment plants, two wastewater treatment plants, one recycled water treatment plant, one advance water purification facility, one groundwater purification facility, dozens of booster pump stations and lift stations, hundreds of miles of water and wastewater pipelines, and 12 reservoirs throughout the City.
The Senior Civil Engineer supervises, coordinates, and manages development projects and capital improvement projects as it relates to the City’s water, wastewater, and recycled water systems. The ideal candidate will serve as project manager for the planning, design, and construction of water, wastewater, and recycled water conveyance and facilities projects; review engineering and architectural design, plans, contract documents, agreements, cost estimates, technical studies, and technical specifications; ensure project conformance with adopted City, State, and Federal standards; prepare requests for qualifications, request for proposals, and staff reports; present to commissions, community groups, business organizations, City Council, and others; resolve construction disputes between the City, contractors, the public, and developers; conduct and prioritize the plan review of development projects; serve as liaison with City staff, developers, engineers, consultants, local businesses, community groups, the general public, and external agencies on assigned projects; and performs related duties and responsibilities as required.
Experience and Training
Experience: Six years of increasingly responsible civil engineering experience including two years of supervisory responsibility.
Training: Equivalent to a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a related field.
License/Certificate:
· A current, or ability to obtain, a valid, California driver’s license.
· Possession of registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of California.
