Salary ranges for all full-time classifications are scheduled to increase by 2% effective July 1, 2023 and July 1, 2024.  In addition, the district will provide cost-of-living adjustments between 2-4% effective July 1, 2023, July 1, 2024 and July 1, 2025.

The Network Administrator is an exempt, technical and professional position reporting to the Enterprise Architecture Manager. This position serves as a district LAN/WAN, VOIP, email, Microsoft 365 and threat management administrator. The Network Administrator installs, administers and maintains the operating stability, security, reliability and efficiency of the network, server, VOIP, email and security infrastructure; and performs related duties as assigned.

 

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform network administration of the district’s LAN/WAN, including maintaining and enhancing network server functionalities, ensuring system security, and preparing and maintaining comprehensive platform documentation.

Install, configure, integrate, and apply software patches and updates. Maintain network monitoring and management software and devices; develop, maintain and test system security features.

Install and configure applications on network, server and appliance-based infrastructure. Maintain and monitor network security software and/or appliances and configures them for maximum effectiveness.

Maintain Active Directory, Windows Server Update Services, key management services, certificate services, DHCP and DNS servers, SQL database servers, SharePoint, email and VOIP infrastructure, along with threat management solutions.

Maintain backup infrastructure and monitor the completion status of all backup clients as it pertains to the daily incremental and weekly full backups that occur across all district servers.

Maintain on-premises Exchange infrastructure as it relates to the district’s hybrid Microsoft 365 email implementation. This includes the adding, removing and updating of users, groups and distribution lists.

Monitor and manage network performance, event and security logs to achieve acceptable service levels using applicable software tools and utilities; troubleshoot and resolve network problems.

Support, install and maintain LAN/WAN/VOIP routers and switches to achieve optimal performance, throughput and availability; build, install and harden server infrastructure.

Train and assist end users in using network systems and applications.

Research, evaluate and implement the latest network software, hardware, methods and techniques to improve network reliability, security and performance; develops short and long-range plans for the enhancement and migration of LAN/WAN/VOIP and security infrastructure to new technologies.

Evaluate and recommend the selection and purchase of hardware and software; develop and maintain district standards for hardware and software.

Meets with other district divisions as needed to define and analyze their future needs, and to evaluate and recommend software and hardware purchases.

Ensures district complies with computer software licensing agreements, hardware registration requirements and validates hardware maintenance periods.

Provides backup support to other information services staff in performing their duties as time allows.

Work outside normal working hours and periodically on weekends for system or facility emergencies, to install patches and updates, and perform other duties as needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidates will have training and/or technical experience substantially equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in computer science, management information systems or a closely related field.  Candidates will have a minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in LAN/WAN environments, VOIP systems, Microsoft 365, backup systems, threat management solutions, operating systems and application deployment.

Candidates must have the ability to work outside normal working hours and periodically on weekends for system or facility emergencies, to install patches and updates and perform other duties as needed.
