The San Diego County Water Authority is an independent public agency that serves as San Diego County's regional water wholesaler.

The Position
The Help Desk Support Specialist provides first-line customer service and problem resolution support to end users; receives, logs, directs, and follows up help desk calls; troubleshoots and resolves routine software application and hardware problems using structured procedures and protocols; maintains problem resolution documentation; and performs related duties as assigned.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable with help-desk software, MS Office 365 suite of applications, Windows operating system environment, computer hardware, and basic principles and practices of systems. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, self-motivated, possess proven problem-solving abilities, and will be a friendly, people person capable of delivering excellent customer service to individuals across the organization.

In addition, the ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Strong customer service focus with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to produce clear, accurate and thorough documentation.
  • Knowledge of systems troubleshooting practices.
  • Ability to adapt to the changing needs of the organization, and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of project planning, prioritizing and scheduling techniques.
  • Knowledge of, and recent experience in Oracle database, PeopleSoft systems and technical support of enterprise applications.

Qualification Guidelines
The qualification guidelines generally describe the knowledge and ability required to enter the job in order to successfully perform the assigned duties. Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by two years technical, vocational, or college level course work in information technology, computer science, or a closely related technical field, including four years of experience in a multi-user, PC networked environment with broad knowledge of hardware, peripherals, and software such as MS Office Suite, Windows operating systems, and business software applications (e.g. PeopleSoft), and 2 years of experience in a customer-based, service-oriented working environment.
