The San Diego County Water Authority is an independent public agency that serves as San Diego County's regional water wholesaler.

The Principal Engineer with the San Diego County Water Authority carries out the administrative, technical engineering review responsibilities, and supervision of professional and technical staff required to successfully deliver a complex CIP program; may participate in the conduct of complex and technical engineering projects, engineering analysis, water resources planning analysis, research, planning and design for a variety of capital construction programs and/or maintenance/improvement programs; and performs related duties as assigned.

 

The Principal Engineer in the Design Services group will oversee a group of twelve staff and be responsible for design process standards; quality control of all design documents; mentoring, guiding, and training staff; and overall Water Authority CIP design. The successful candidate will be a strong, compassionate leader with extensive technical skills. The ideal candidate will be expected to:

Optional Hybrid Work Schedule: 

The Water Authority has embraced a hybrid work schedule to offer employees flexibility and work-life balance. Employees authorized to telework must be able to report to Water Authority facilities as needed, depending on the operational needs of the department and/or area of assignment. Additionally, employees assigned to work at the Kearny Mesa office work a 9/80 schedule, where the entire facility is closed every other Friday. While onboarding and training, the successful candidate may be required to work primarily onsite before establishing a hybrid work schedule.
